Dr Alasdair Hotston Moore

Alasdair Hotston Moore qualified from the University of Cambridge in 1990. Following graduation, he joined Bristol Vet School, first as Intern in Small Animal Medicine and subsequently as Resident in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery.

He was Lecturer and latterly Senior Clinical Fellow in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery at Bristol University Vet School from 1997 until leaving in 2009.

From 2009 -2023 he worked as a referral soft tissue surgeon and group veterinary advisor in referral hospitals and corporate groups in the UK and China.

He is now offering in clinic teaching in soft tissue surgery, formal lecturing and peripatetic surgery.

He holds post graduate qualifications in small animal surgery, veterinary radiology, small animal cardiology and medical education. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals and lectured nationally and internationally in his discipline of small animal surgery. He has been recognised in the UK for Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice by receiving the honour of Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons

Alasdair is Clinical Editor of VetSurgeon.org and VetNurse.co.uk, on line communities for veterinary professionals to help each other by answering each other’s questions.

Dr. Alexandru Bogdan Vitalaru

Professor Bogdan Alexandru Viţălaru graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest in 2004, a PhD in October 2009, and Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest since 2023.

Starting in 2017 Dr. Bogdan Alexandru Viţălaru became Associate Professor at Pisa University, Perugia University, Zagreb University, Milano University, Thessaloniki University, and Lublin University, teaching urology and nephrology both for students and postgraduates.

Over the years he has written more than 150 scientific papers on topics related to oncologic surgery, dialysis, hemodialysis and emergencies. His 4 books about emergencies were sold in more than 2000 copies in Romania in the last 4 years. His last book it is completely dedicated to peritoneal dialysis in small animals and it has been released also in English in Italy, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Ukraine and Poland starting February 2018.

The Peritoneal dialysis in small animal book received the Romanian Academy Award, “Traian Savulescu”, in December 2019.

Since January 2014, in collaboration with BBraun Romania, within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, he opened the first Veterinary Hemodialysis Clinic in Romania and one of the few in Eastern Europe.

Starting 2013, he established the Romanian Association of Veterinary Nephrology, Hemodialivet, who’s Chairman he is.

In the last 10 years, Dr. Viţălaru has been a lecturer for Hills Romania and KTL in Romania and Europe regarding urology, nephrology and renal replacement therapies. He is also leading the Emergency Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest since 2015.

Starting 2014, Dr. Viţălaru has initiated a program of workshops and seminars regarding renal patients all over Romania (București, Iași, Cluj, Timișoara, Brașov, Constanța), Bulgaria (Varna, Stara Zagora), Poland (Krakow, Warsaw), Croatia (Zagreb), Italy (Perugia, Pisa) and in Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya). He was awarded with the Continuing medical education prize – AMVAC/RoSAVA, Sinaia 12-14 November 2015 and SPEAKER OF THE YEAR – Romanian College of Veterinarians, Bucharest, 17 December 2015. He is a member within the board of some of the most prestigious publications in Romania: Cat life, 2015, Romanian Journal of Veterinary Orthopedics and Imagistic, 2015, Romanian Journal of Veterinary Medicine & Pharmacology, 2016, Romanian Cardiology Review. In 2016, Dr. Viţălaru has received the Special Prize for the best veterinary initiative of the year in Romania – Innovation in Health.

Since June 2022 Dr. Vițălaru is President of AMVAC (Small Animal Romanian Practitioners Association), FECAVA Director for Romania and since March 2019, Dr. Vitalaru is FECAVA Ambassador and ROVECCS Ambassador (Romanian EVECCS partner).

In September 2019, Dr. Viţălaru received the Didier-Noël Carlotti Award (DCA), named after a veterinary surgeon who initiated, planned and inspired FECAVA and who served as its first President for four years. The DCA is to be awarded annually to one of FECAVA members who has provided an outstanding service in the fields of inter professional communication and/or continuing education for companion animal veterinarians in Europe.

Dr. Chiara Noli

Vice-President at The European College of Veterinary Dermatology (ECVD)

Dr. Chiara Noli graduated in veterinary medicine from the University of Milan, Italy, in 1990. After a residency at the University of Utrecht, Holland, she obtained the European Diploma in Veterinary Dermatology in 1996. Since then she works as referral dermatologist and dermatopathologist in Northern Italy. Dr. Noli was President and Founder Member of the Italian Society of Veterinary Dermatology, President of the European Society of Veterinary Dermatology and is currently Past-President of the European College of Veterinary Dermatology. Dr. Noli is author of more than 100 articles in Italian and international journals, of nine book chapters and three veterinary dermatology textbooks, and co-editor of the books “Veterinary Allergy” (2014) and “Feline Dermatology” (2020). She has given several hundred lectures in four continents. Her last project is the web portal dedicated to veterinary dermatology called www.dermavet.online/en/.

Doç. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Bozkurt

He graduated from Ankara Kurtuluş High School in 1994. In 2000, he completed his undergraduate education at Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Between 2001-2004, he worked as a Research Assistant at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. In 2010, he received the title of Doctor of Veterinary Pathology at Ankara University Institute of Health Sciences. Since 2010, she has been working at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He has more than 50 scientific articles and many papers. He has been involved in more than 30 projects as an executive or researcher. He established one of the best and most comprehensive veterinary pathology laboratories in Turkey within Afyon Kocatepe University. He is currently working with over 150 animal hospitals and veterinary clinics. In addition to this, he provides in-house training and scientific seminars. Her research interests include feline infectious peritonitis, feline-dog neoplastic diseases and cytology. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Prof. Dr. Gökçen Dinç

Gökçen Dinç graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, completed her PhD in Microbiology at Ankara University Institute of Health Sciences in 2009, and started working at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Microbiology in the same year. In 2010, she received mesenchymal and haematopoietic stem cell training at Ankara Gülhane Military Medical Academy and embryonic stem cell training at Newcastle University Human Genome Institute in England. In 2011, she received her stem cell GMP certificate and worked as the Quality Officer of the GMP Unit of the Genome and Stem Cell Centre (GENKÖK), which is the first and only publicly owned stem cell producer. In 2018, she was appointed as Associate Professor at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine and as Professor in 2023. Dr. Gökçen Dinç, who has an H-index of 9, has a total of 102 publications, including high impact factor journals such as Frontiers and European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases. Dr. Gökçen Dinç has worked on 25 projects on preclinical infection models with resistant bacteria, sepsis, and stem cell therapies. In addition, Dr. Gökçen Dinç has memberships in various European Union COST actions and has received awards for her work.

Dr. Guido Roma

Dr. Guido Roma has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Biotechnology (2007) and a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine (2012) from the University of Padua, Italy. He completed an educational program in Veterinary Hematology and Cytopathology at the University of Perugia in 2017 and an Internship in Oncology in Italy in 2019. He further specialized with an MSc in Clinical Oncology (2022) from the University of Padua, a GPCert in Oncology (2022), and an advanced post-graduate course in Diagnostic Cytopathology at the University of Camerino in 2023.

Guido has extensive international experience. Since 2020, he has served as Head of the Oncology Department at Naughty Family Pet Hospital in Shanghai. He also works as a freelance cytologist for Vet Science China and Laboklin China. Currently, he provides oncology consultations for several veterinary clinics in China and continues his work as a cytologist for Laboklin China, combining his expertise in oncology and diagnostic cytopathology.

Dr. Hadi Alihosseini

I was born in 1977 in Tabriz, Iran. In 1995, I enrolled in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Orumiyeh Azad University and graduated in 2002. From 2002 to 2007, I worked in the animal hospital of the same faculty, participating in classes for Internal Medicine, Neurology, Dermatology, and Ophthalmology. During this period, I also worked full-time in the Internal Medicine department of the hospital. Also, I interned at the Copenhagen Small Animal Hospital between 2005 and 2006.

In 2008, I began my PhD in the Department of Internal Medicine at Ankara University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and I was awarded the title of "Doctor of Science" in 2014. During and after my doctoral studies, I published over 20 articles in domestic and international journals and presented more than 50 papers at various conferences.

Since 2012, I have been actively working in the Internal Medicine and Cardiology department of the Therapist Veterinary Clinic in Istanbul, Etiler. As the first private Veterinary Cardiology center in Istanbul, we provide services to cats and dogs with heart disease complaints and suspicions from all over Turkey. I have been interested in Veterinary Cardiology for 23 years and have been professionally working on heart diseases in cats and dogs for the past 12 years. I have also participated in various symposia and online webinar platforms for cardiology education for over 12 years.

Dr. Simon Tappin

Simon trained at the University of Cambridge and, after qualifying, spent 2 years in small animal practice before taking up a Residency in Small Animal Medicine and Intensive Care at the University of Bristol. He joined DWR in 2007. He holds the Royal College Certificate in Small Animal Medicine and the European Diploma in Veterinary Internal Medicine. He is an active member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and was editor of their Companion Journal for 5 years. Simon particularly enjoys critical care and has been instrumental in developing the Interventional Radiology service at DWR, using minimally invasive techniques and bio-materials to treat many conditions which previously required more invasive surgery. He has lectured widely in the UK and Europe on subjects including emergency medicine and interventional radiology.

Prof. Dr. Zeynep Pekcan
Kırıkkale Üniversitesi Veterinerlik Fakültesi, Türkiye

Zeynep Pekcan was graduated from Ankara University in 1998 and started her PhD studies at the same University in 2000. After completion her doctorate studies in 2005, she was appointed as an Asistant Professor in 2008 and Associate Professor in 2012 at Kirikkale University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Surgery.

She is giving undergraduate and graduate lectures in Veterinary Surgery at Kirikkale University. She is the author and co-author of many research articles and textbook chapters in the field of veterinary surgery, anesthesia, dentistry and neurology. She has attended many national and international congress and invited for lectures in the field of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia throughout Turkey.
